Description▾
The Orawa is not a standard chess set. Carved in linden wood using the distinctive angular style of the Orawa highland tradition, each piece is a sculptural object as much as a playing piece. The four-wood board, finished in a combination of beech, birch, mahogany and sycamore, adds depth and warmth unlike anything mass-produced.
A set that earns its place on the table even when no one is playing.

Craftsmanship▾
The Orawa pieces are carved by hand using techniques rooted in highland woodworking traditions. Linden wood is chosen for its workability and warm tone, then shaped into the bold angular forms that define this style. The four-wood board is assembled from carefully matched sections of beech, birch, mahogany and sycamore, each contributing its own grain and colour to the finished surface. No two boards are identical.
